There will also be six pop-up DriveTest centres added in the Greater Golden Horseshoe starting in September.Ī news release from the Ministry of Transportation estimates the additional hires will cost more than $16 million. In anticipation of a bottleneck of appointment bookings resulting in the backlog of road tests cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic, the province will be hiring 167 additional examiners (on top of 84 announced in the fall of 2020). The province announced today (June 9) it will be resuming in-person road tests starting Monday, June 14 at DriveTest centres across Ontario. Those waiting to take their road test for their driver’s licence may soon get behind the wheel.
